With So Many Digital Marketing Options, How Do You Know When to Use What?
You know you have to get found online. But the problem is that there are too many options for where you should be spending your time and money.
Should you have a website, should you invest in search engine optimization, what about content marketing, should you be running ads online? What about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube… which of the dozens of social media platforms should you invest in?
And if you’re a business owner, you probably get calls all the time from sales reps who want you to advertise with their company. And every one of them has a great pitch on why you should be advertising with them. So what should you do?
Well, the answer is… it depends.
It depends on who you are. Are you a retailer with an e-commerce site? Are you interested in generating leads? Are you a media publisher or a blogger?
The right digital marketing mix is going to be different based upon your situation and where your customers are spending their time online.
It also depends upon your resources. If you’ve got too much money, then you can do alot more than if you have no money or a very low budget.
If you’ve got a particular talent or expertise or experience in some of these digital marketing channels… that can make a difference in where you should be focusing your efforts.
And finally, time. If you have a lot more time than money, then the right digital marketing mix is going to be different for you, than for somebody who has a very limited amount of time.
And another thing to consider is the level of competition that you have. If you have low competition, finding the right mix is going to be a lot easier then if you have a lot of competition online.
OTOH…
If you have a high level of competition, you really need to be very strategic about where you’re investing in your digital marketing mix to get the most out of it.
